Our STORY

DIMORA CAMILLE

Dimora Camille was a farmstead originally built in the mid-19 th century, when the island was still part of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The year 1851 is carved at the entrance of “Villa Spinazza”, a pavilion where the owners stayed during harvest season. After the Unification of Italy, various buildings were added to the estate, including the Palmento, built in 1875 and primarily dedicated to the production of olive oil. The feeders housed in the dry-stone bear witness to the presence of farm animals and livestock farming.

We may imagine, given the state of abandonment in which we found the property, that she fell dormant shortly after the Second World War. In 2015, we discovered a distressed building. The roofs had collapsed and the walls were crumbling, yet despite the ravages of time, this ancient farmhouse, set on rocky ground and facing the nearby sea, still stood strong. It was love at first sight. That ruin of golden stone had not completely fallen, and her soul was still there. She had lost most of her lands during her long sleep and no longer had the farming spirit of the great estate she once was: she needed to reinvent herself! We felt the generosity of the place, her potential to welcome people who, like us, have lived across the world with passion and curiosity, seeking a place of peace, openness and connection; we perceived her traveler soul, profoundly Sicilian.

Dimora Camille had to be worthy of our dreams and of the land on which she stands. We therefore embarked on this adventure, armed with a good dose of recklessness. With the support of the architect Viviana Haddad, we chose to gather the best of Sicilian craftsmanship in our own special laboratory dedicated to the research and use of natural materials, the design and production of original furniture, the conception of structural and decorative elements, to ultimately meet the needs of Dimora Camille.

After eight years, she is ready to open her doors.

The experience Dimora Camille is immersive, sensory and emotional. The intent is to welcome a group of friends, a family reunion, and offer them an ideal space to create unforgettable memories, filled with moments of joy and exchange, allowing themselves to surrender to the pleasure of suspended time in this truly unique place.
